Terms & Conditions

These terms outline the scope, responsibilities, and ethical framework governing services at Ownthemind.
Reviewing them ensures informed and structured engagement.

Introduction

Ownthemind provides psychological counselling, therapy, emotional support, and psycho-education through online and/or in-person sessions. Therapy is a collaborative process, and its effectiveness depends on consistency, openness, and mutual effort. Therapy is not a substitute for emergency medical or psychiatric care.

All services are provided in accordance with professional ethical standards and guidelines as prescribed by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and relevant psychological practice frameworks.

1. Confidentiality

All information shared during sessions is kept strictly confidential and handled with professional care. Confidentiality may only be broken if there is a risk of harm to the client or others, or if disclosure is legally required.

2. Session Structure

Sessions are approximately 45–60 minutes and conducted at a mutually agreed time. Clients are expected to join on time. Late arrivals may result in reduced session duration.

3. Payments

Sessions must be paid in advance to confirm the appointment. Once booked, the session fee is final and non-negotiable.

4. Cancellation & Rescheduling

Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled session. Late cancellations or no-shows are non-refundable, except in genuine emergency situations considered on a case-by-case basis.

5. Communication Between Sessions

Communication outside scheduled sessions is limited to brief logistical coordination. Therapeutic support or emotional processing requires a booked session.

6. Client Responsibilities

Clients are encouraged to participate honestly and take responsibility for their therapeutic process. Clients may ask questions, raise concerns, or discontinue therapy at any time, ideally with a closing session.

7. Professional Boundaries

The therapeutic relationship is strictly professional. Dual relationships (personal, social, or business connections) are avoided to maintain ethical standards. Mutual respect and appropriate communication are expected at all times.

8. Emergency Situations

Ownthemind does not provide crisis or emergency intervention. In case of emergency, clients are advised to contact local emergency services, a nearby hospital, or a trusted support person.

9. Consent

By booking a session, clients confirm that they understand the nature of therapy, agree to these terms, and consent to participate willingly.

10. Working With Minors

Therapy for clients under 18 requires informed consent from a parent or legal guardian. Parents may be involved as clinically appropriate while respecting the child’s confidentiality and emotional safety.

11. Packages & Multiple Sessions

Session packages are non-refundable and must be used within the agreed time frame. Missed sessions are not carried forward unless informed at least 24 hours in advance.

12. Data & Record Keeping

Basic client information and session notes are securely maintained for professional and ethical purposes only and are not shared without consent, except when legally required.

13. Termination of Therapy

Either the client or therapist may end therapy if deemed therapeutically appropriate. A closing session is recommended for emotional closure and continuity of care.

14. Scope of Practice

Services are provided within ethical and professional limits. Referrals to psychiatrists, medical professionals, or other specialists may be made when necessary for holistic care.

15. Respect & Safety

Abusive, inappropriate, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in immediate termination of services, prioritizing safety and ethical practice..
